Introduction

Take back control. Be free. #

古里 (Furusato) is Japanese and refers to one’s home town or place of birth. A place where everyone is (or should be) trustworthy and you can feel safe. However, it’s also a location that you have the most familiarity with and have tailored to your special requirements.

It’s a strong but thin layer that serves as a foundation, gives you the freedom to explore and take opportunities. What if your Furusato could be built up everywhere - In the rapidly evolving digital world, in a business context, or even when you’re traveling to some of the globe’s most unreliable states?

Taking back control, similar to what you achieved at your tailored home (古里), translates directly into freedom - for me the most possible joy in live.

With this page I try to develop my own creed for an independent live (aka Big Four for Live1), both for my own retreat and the benefit of those who might be interested. Furthermore I try to give insights into latest digital technologies, tooling and software development to preserve digital independency and flexibility.

By implementing this mind- and skillset in a professional setting, you will benefit from being able to put up tools and infrastructures that are manageable, inexpensive, high-performing, and secure. Utilizing this hassle-free base let’s you concentrate on the actual business difficulties and accomplish your objectives.

Be curious. Be active. #

Learning new things is difficult, and we frequently simply scratch the surface. But once you built it, you will understand it. So get started and work with your hands. You run the risk of becoming lost in the details, though. Always begin at the top and concentrate on simplicity. In this manner, your mind will stay sharp all the time.

Respect others. #

There is nothing to add.

Your life, your data. #

It’s more or less about keeping your personal freedom, not about covering up unlawful activity. Once your data and digital footprint are in the hands of an unpredictable cloud provider, you lose two critical things: data control and digital independence.

Reduce yourself to the essentials. #

Do I really need another jacket or even a car? Possibly, but perhaps not. It truly is dependent upon your present circumstances but in general less is more.

Digital services are subject to the same rules as physical goods: Only own or run those items that you truly love and/or need.
